Greenhouse gas emissions in the Netherlands have increased 4% since 1990

This increase in the 1990-2001 period is mainly due to an increase of CO2 emissions of 13%. In contrast, emissions of other greenhouse gases decreased. Methane and nitrous oxide emissions decreased by about 25% and 3%, respectively. The emissions of the fluorinated greenhouse gases decreased by 60%. These are conclusions from the annual National Inventory Report compiled by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (MNP-RIVM) for the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM) for submission under the Climate Change Convention of the UN.
