GLOBIO: A global biodiversity model
The GLOBIO model quantifies the effect of human activities on biodiversity and ecosystem services on a global scale, based on state-of-the-art knowledge from literature.
One of the biodiversity indicators used is the Mean Species Abundance of original species (MSA). The model is tightly connected to PBL’s IMAGE model. Over the past years, the IMAGE-GLOBIO framework has been extensively used for environmental assessments, for example for the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
