RMNO and quality control of scientific advice to policy
The quality control of scientific advice to policy makers is described from the position of an advisory council (RMNO).
Quality of scientific advice to policy-makers and what can be called good or bad practice depends on several factors:
- the nature of the policy problem (structured or unstructured) and the way scientists, policymakers and stakeholders see their roles with regard to knowledge production;
- the existing evaluation routines and institutions;
- the paradigmatic view on science/policy interactions (positivist or social constructivist) of those who evaluate.
