Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the Netherlands: summary Report 1990-1997 (IPCC Tables 7A)
This report documents the Netherlands' annual greenhouse gas emission inventory submitted for 1998 according to the European Union's Greenhouse Gas Monitoring Mechanism and the United Nation's Framework Convention on Climate Change (FCCC).
Emissions of CO2 and N2O increased from 1990 to 1997 (with a fluctuation of CO2 in 1996 due to a very cold winter) by 14% and 10%, respectively, while in the same period CH4 emissions decreased by 14%. Of the 'new' gases (HFCs, PFCs and SF6), for which 1995 is a reference year, emissions of HFCs decreased substantially in 1997 to a level 35% lower than the 1995 figure, while emissions of PFCs and SF6 (potential) remained at the same level. Overall CO2-eq. emissions of all six gases increased in 1997 by 8% relative to the base year 1990 (1995 for the 'new' greenhouse gases) (6% when correcting for temperature.
